Blank Space Studios was founded by Krista Makela in Austin, Texas. It was the origin of the slat art that was popular in the years 2020-2022, but has since evolved to sculptural and multi-dimensional art.
The mission is to create dimensional art that is high quality in material selection, heavy duty, but with a beauty that shifts as the light does. Many of our artworks have a vibrancy that shifts as the night comes, taking on a different beauty and effect.

All of our smaller artworks ship via UPS, and are completely encased in foam, cling wrapped, with corners. Clients say the packaging is almost "to good" but we guarantee quality delivery, and we ensure protection for each and every piece, no matter how big or small.
All large artworks ship via courier service. This can take 1-2 weeks once shipped, but the artwork stays in a single air-ride van, with one delivery driver, the entire trip. We use small, white glove companies to insure that the artwork receives top-notch handling.
All artworks are mounted on a heavy duty wood backer. We use natural materials for the textures, some include plaster, coal, sand, chalk, enamel, and various finishes.
Our framing is solid wood, and finished with a polycrylic.
Each artwork comes with French cleat hardware, security hardware available upon request.
